According to a Gartner report, business operations consulting (BOC) refers to re-engineering, improvement, optimization, and standardization of processes so that they are aligned with the business strategy. BOC helps companies:

  • define the scope, configuration, and details of the process
  • optimize performance attributes
  • support integrated business planning
  • help operations execution and fulfillment

The Business Operations Consulting Workshop, led by Katie Votolato, involves both client and consulting companies who provide real-world context to challenges and issues facing both sides of the industry across two courses: one sophomore-level course and one junior-level course.

The workshop has close ties with many organizations involved in operations consulting such as Deloitte, EY, and PwC. Students get face-to-face interactions with recruiters and senior leaders from these companies.

Workshop Time Commitment

Time commitment during the eight-week courses is similar to a three-credit hour class (but only lasts eight weeks). This time is variable depending on how involved students want to be, but leadership opportunities are available.
